Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has through partnership with an offshore Christian partners called GIDEON’S FOUNDATION distributed over 600,000 Bibles to students of private schools in Ghana.
Pupils who were fortunate to stand as beneficiaries of the free distribution belong to schools including; Janet Educational Complex, Pella Model School, Potters Christian Academy, Adonia Angels Academy, Living Foundation School, Glorious International School, P and G School, The Saint International, Brain Birds Academy, Ave-Maria Montessori school among others.
These are private schools located in parts of Accra, Ahafo and Ashanti region.
The distribution according to the leadership of GNACOPS will soon be extended to private schools located in Central, Bono, Eastern, Upper West, Upper East and Western North Regions.
Aside pupils, 30,000 teachers according to available information have also received a Bible each.
Briefing Foxfmonline in an exclusive dialogue, the Executive Director for GNACOPS Mr. Enoch Gyetuah said that the initiative forms part of measures aimed at instilling good moral virtues in students through the sharing of the word of God.
According to him, students as they read the Bible will get to know how to put up a good life and why they should refrain from all forms of social vices.
He underscored the move as one of the ideal ways of reducing drastically the level of moral decay among Ghanian youth.
The Council he indicated is committed towards ensuring that the youth are properly brought up academically and well positioned to serve the country better in future.
He therefore appealed for sponsorship from government, companies, religious bodies and well-to-dos for the smooth running of the exercise.
