Ghana’s most rising talented striker Hafiz Azong has been adjudged best player of the 2019 inter Universities soccer championship competition in China.
The 2019 edition of the inter University soccer competitions was dominated by the Ghanaian students of the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications in the Jiangsu province of China, sweeping the most covetous awards of the recently held football competition.
Promising striker Hafiz Azong, a Business Administration student at the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, emerged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament after finishing as the competition’s top scorer.
The 18-year old former Prempeh College student proved his striking abilities as he demonstrated his overwhelming talent, drawing the attention of several scouts present at the recently held competition.
Hafiz scored 5 goals in the competition to emerge top scorer and was adjudged best player of the competition.
Another promising talent who raised the flag of Ghana high in the said competition was Ezekiel Young, a dazzling Ghanaian goalkeeper of the eventual winners of the tournament, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Ezekiel won the best goalkeeper of the competition after proving very decisive in the final match which traveled into penalty kicks to decide the winner.
The final match was between the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Nanjing FC, a second division side who featured in the competition as invitees. The University side, dominated by talented Ghanaians such as striker Hafiz Azong, Ezekiel Young, Prince Kudom led by Ghanaian trainer Sammy Atoota, drew blank with Nanjing FC after 90 minutes of regulation time, pushing the game into penalties.
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications defeated Nanjing FC 3-2 during the penalty shootouts to emerge winners of the competition.
Ghanaian sensation Prince Kudom was named Man of the Match in the final game. The competition, held last week is purposely to mark the celebration of a public holiday in China.
