Despite agitations by some aggrieved persons under the youth in afforestation program for upwards adjustment of their salaries as some have threatened to lay down their tools , those in the Mankraso Forest district in the Ahafo Ano South-East District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana have embraced the concept and are working vigorously to ensure the realisation of government vision of greening Ghana.
Out of the one thousand and forty one people recruited for the program, only one person has so far withdrawn on health grounds.
This was disclosed to journalists in an interaction with the Mankraso forest district manager, Mr. Godwin Agyeman at Mankraso, the district capital of Ahafo Ano South East district of Ashanti region.
He said even though the program is bedeviled with some challenges such as means of transport and other logics for it’s smooth running, he was optimistic that such challenges would soon be a thing of the past as the authorities concerned have put measures in place for a successful implementation of the program in order to help curb the negative impact of climate change.
Mr Godwin Agyeman showed appreciation to some stake holders such as chiefs and community folks for their support in dealing with illegal logging and the destruction of some 50 hectares illegal farms in the forest reserves. Mean while some notorious fraudsters in the district who have been defrauding genuine operators in the name of the chief executive officer Of the foresty commission have been nabbed by the police and have been arraigned before the Nkawie district court to re appear on the 14th of November 2018 .
These include kwabena Tawia, kwadwo Asamoa obeng and kofi Fosu Gyeabour.
