New Edubiase United and Black Stars B Striker Prince Opoku Agyemang has agree three years deal with Tarkwa based Medeama Sporting Club which will see him lead the attack for the Mauves for the next three seasons, the player has confirmed.
Opoku Agyemang has been in a sensational form for New Edubiase United for the last two seasons, scoring 15 goals and emerging as the top scorer in the division one league two seasons ago. He was as well the top scorer for New Edubiase United in the group northern sector of the division one of the Normalization Committee Special Competition, which earned him a call up to Maxwell Konadu’s Black Stars B team that finished second in the 2019 West African Football Union (WAFU) tournament in Senegal.
Clubs like Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Medeama Sporting Club and others have been in the queue for his signature, and the Tarkwa based premiership side have won the race to capture the prolific attacker.
“We are done with the negotiations, the deal is done and it’s only left with me to go for the medicals maybe tomorrow (Thursday), I have to do the medicals then sign the deal”, Prince Opoku Agyemang confirmed, speaking in an exclusive interview with Fox FM.
The former Sekondi Eleven Wise striker revealed that he will officially put pen to paper after his medicals goes successfully and can’t wait for the return of domestic football as his feet is itching for goals.
Despite wanting a two-year deal, Medeama needed him for more seasons and club Chairman Moses Armah successfully struck a deal that will bring the former Kpando Hearts of Lions super star at the Tarkwa Naboso park for the next three seasons.
“We agreed for three years, though I wanted two years but [Moses Armah] ‘Parker’ said he needs me to sign for three years so we’ve done with the talks and I will put pen to paper when am done with the medicals”, Prince confirmed.
Prince Opoku Agyemang, national team medalist, began his professional footballing career with Sekondi Eleven Wise under the tutelage of coach Edward Gariga and Nana Agyemang where they qualified the team from the Division one zone two league to the top flight. He moved to Kpando Heart of Lions during the era of coach Hans Van der Pluijm, moved for a short spel in Togo before joining New Edubiase United where his exploits made him hot cake top local clubs like Medeama and Kotoko.
After earning a national team call up to the Black Stars B for the CHAN qualifiers and the recently held WAFU tournament in Senegal, Prince Opoku netted 10 goals in 5 friendly matches for the Black Stars B including hat-tricks along the line.
The move to Medeama SC means clubs who will face the yellow and Mauves in the coming season will have questions to answer in defence as the elated striker has his sights on winning the top scorer award in the country’s top flight.
“My feet is even itching as I sit at home (without playing) and I wish the league has even started, because even though Christmas is near but we can break for one week or two weeks to celebrate the Christmas and come to continue, it happens so for me if we start [the league] in December I will be happy”, Prince Opoku hoped.
The goal poacher has his eyes set on winning the goal king for Medeama in the premier league after winning it in the division one league with New Edubiase United.
