The management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Ashanti Region, says the Barekese Treatment Plant will be shut for two days beginning this Monday, October 2, 2017.
Management of the water company in a release issued Sunday said, the shutdown is to enable engineers carryout emergency maintenance works on the Barekese Treatment plant.
“As a result, most parts of the Kumasi Metropolis will be affected :
Asawase, Sawaba, Aboabo, Asafo, Asokwa, Adum, Nhyiaeso, Ahodwo, Kwadaso, Patasi, Santasi Fankyinebra, TUC, Angloga, Ayigya, Tech, Oduom, Kentinkrono”
This will interrupt the already deficient supply of water to consumers in southern and eastern parts of Kumasi and management wants residents to store enough water for the period
Customers are kindly informed to store enough water before the shutdown.
Meanwhile, the Company said “alternate arrangement has been put in place for institutions providing essential services like hospitals and GNFS until the situation is normalised.”
