Dr. Raymond Dziwornu, Dean, Faculty of Accounting & Finance, University of Professional Studies, Accra, has urged government to leverage on digitization to make revenue generation more efficient.
Dr. Dziwornu in reacting to the 2020 budget which was themed “Consolidating the Gains for Growth, Jobs and Prosperity for all” in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, noted that the budget was was a comprehensive one because all the key areas of the economy was captured.
With respect to revenue, he think that its is rather unfortunate that government was not able to meet its target as at September this year hence the need to see digitization as the new order of the day.
Dr. Dziwornu believes that digitization is in the hands of the informal sector which had always been talked about.”Visiting institutions to close down their businesses because you want to make them tax compliant is a good attempt but to what extent can we go”.
Dr. Raymond Dziwornu therefore appeals to the government to leverage upon the digital world, take advantage of that to ensure that the country will generate more income.
